Anderson, Gerald H. "Jerry" 78 years, of New Brighton Previously of Minneapolis passed away on September 11th. Jerry passed away at home after a courageous battle with COPD. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to Team #2 of Health Partners Hospice and Palliative care at Regions Hospital. He was retired from the Minneapolis Public School's Nutrition Center where he belonged to SEIU. He had also been employed by the Hennepin County Juvenile Justice Center, where he was nicknamed "Food Man" and a member of AFSCME. Jerry was born in Fergus Falls, MN on the farm of his grandparents, John and Mary Ingram. His family moved to Minneapolis, where he grew up attending Lincoln Junior high, North High School & The University of Minnesota. He was a drummer in the National Championship Ames Lodge Drum and Bugle Corps of the Minneapolis Elks. He performed in many communities in Minnesota including the Aquaten-nial parades. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jo Ann (Tenner) Anderson. He is also survived by his four sons from a previous marriage: Gerald, Troy (Gilda), Stacy, Lonnie (Jennifer); granddaughters Courtney, Amber, Elizabeth and five great-grandchildren, Javonte, Ky'mani, Jai Ani, Londyn, & Dwayne. He was preceded in death by his mother Edna Stuart and great granddaughter Aubrielle, and many extended family members. Jerry was an enthusiastic supporter of sports, the "The Golden Gophers", Vikings, Timberwolves and Lynx. Jerry was active in Silver Sneakers at the New Brighton family center. He was also a lover of music and had a vast collection of recordings of various jazz artists. He especially enjoyed annual holiday parties Innsbruck Park Home Owner's Association at Crooners. He enjoyed eating at many of the restaurants on the Minneapolis East side. He enjoyed sci-fi movies and spent his last month watching the Western Channel on TV because it reminded him of his grandparent's farm. Private family service has been held at Hillside Cemetery.
