Pirolo, Dino H. (Enrico) 86, died August 19, 2018, of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis at home in Maple Grove, MN, surrounded by his loving family. Dino was born January 19, 1932, in Caspian, MI. He married his high school sweetheart, Eloise Joan Anderson, of Stambaugh, MI, in 1953. That same year, he graduated from Michigan Technological University with a BS in Mining Engineering. His 39-year career as a mining engineer and executive with Inland Steel included positions in Atikokan, ON; Ishpeming, MI; Iron River, MI; Crosby, MN; Manistique, MI; Virginia, MN; and East Chicago, IN. Dino and Joan retired to Prescott, AZ in 1993, where they made many new friends, and Dino enjoyed volunteer work with the US Forest Service. In 1998, he was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Mining Engineers by Michigan Tech. They returned to MN in 2015 to be closer to family. Dino loved his family, his Catholic faith, travel and the outdoors. He was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. An active man, his work ethic and zest for life were inspiring to all who encountered him. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Eloise Joan; children, Donald (Elizabeth) Pirolo, Linda (John) Ethier, Susan (Frank Herrera) Pirolo; grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda), Isaac, and Andrew Pirolo, and Michael (Heather) and Sarah Ethier; great-grandchildren, Adam Pirolo, and Benjamin and Eloise Ethier. Preceded in death by parents, Silvio and Teresa (Zanconato) Pirolo; brothers, Remo and Bruno. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 25, in the Silvercreek Chapel, 8200 Main St., Maple Grove, with visitation beginning at 11 AM and reception following.
