Stelman, Elizabeth L. Minneapolis, and formerly of Duluth, entered into the Kingdom of God on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 with her family by her side. She battled Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a kidney disease for more than 30 years. Elizabeth was born in November, 1955 to Ed and Eileen Stelman. She was a 1974 graduate of Duluth Cathedral High School (now Marshall) and attended Duluth Business University where she received an accounting degree. Elizabeth worked at Como Oil and KDLH before moving to Minneapolis where she worked for the City of Minneapolis, and later at Community Involvement Programs. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, coloring and clowning. She did clowning as part of Children's Ministry. She also mentored and had a very special friend in Kala Beaslay. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tom and Larry; sisters-in-law, Jan and Cathy, and nephew Daryl. Elizabeth is survived by her sisters, Tina (Steve) Farrell and Cat (Joe Benick) Stelman; her brothers, Jim, Bill and Frank (Amy); her nieces Nicole (Nic) Veech, Abi (Casey), Jennifer, Rebecca, Tina, Morgan and Serenity; her nephews Joe Leone, Dustin (Katie), Rob, Ryan and Adam; her grand nieces and nephews, Haley, Nathan, Zarek, Bjorn, Allison and Roman; and many extended family and friends, both in Minneapolis and Duluth. Elizabeth's family would like to thank the incredible staff at Augustana for the last 3 years. Special thanks to Dr. Tom Klemond and Dr. Allison Smith of Pallative Care at HCMC, and Dr. Sahadevan and Barb of the Transplant Clinic at HCMC. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 2 PM until the 4 PM Celebration of Life Service with scripture readings and prayer service lead by her cousin, Sister Joan Marie Stelman, OSB at Dougherty Funeral Home in Duluth. Memorial donations in Elizabeth's name are preferred and may be directed to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016, or to Minneapolis Mentoring Program.
