Kubach, Douglas George Age 61 of Minneapolis, MN passed away suddenly on July 26, 2018 in his home. He was a loving husband (survived by wife, Suzanne Tacheny Kubach), a dedicated son (survived by his mother, Marjorie Shaw Kubach), a beloved father (survived by children Vanessa, Nora, and Ted Kubach, and their mother Patricia Ireland, and his stepson Jordan Marxen) and brother (survived by Kevin Kubach and his wife Ruth Finglass). His father, Allen Edward Kubach, precedes him in death. His life's work was improving education through innovations in technology and assessment. He was an advisor and industry expert for educational technology and assessment businesses. Until 2016, he was President and CEO of NCS Pearson and Pearson School. He was an immensely private person with a quiet countenance and enormous gravitas. At 6'5", Doug had a hearty, memorable laugh, kind eyes, a buoyant spirit, and giant hands, heart, and shoulders - literally and metaphorically. He was a voracious reader and lover of words. (Except whilst. He detested whilst.) A musician and artist, art lover, and generous arts supporter, he could be found playing Chopin on his 1876 model A Steinway or sketching in a local park. Doug's "facts on file" brain made him the guy to beat on game night. His cream cheese eggs were epic. A celebration of Doug's life will take place on Oct 20, 2018, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
