Curran, Dr. John M. Passed away unexpectedly due to a major cardiac event Saturday, June 16, 2018 at his home in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness. John Matthew Curran was born August 11, 1946 in Peoria, IL. He graduated from Aledo High in 1964, received BS from St. Ambrose in 1968 and Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine from Iowa State in 1971. John and his brother Bernie co-founded Scott County Animal Hospital in 1976. He had thoroughbred race horses and was part of American Association of Equine Practitioners. John's personality filled a room and brought smiles to those around. He made friends easily, never judging others. He gave generously of time and money to support those in need. He participated in Alcoholics Anonymous for many years. John never gave up on anyone, including himself. He enjoyed fishing, travelling, Minnesota sports, and time with grandchildren. He appreciated the finer things in life. Others describe John as a thinker, teacher, and seeker. He was constantly planning his next adventure and sought the best life had to offer. He was a great man and will be missed by many. Survivors include his children: Amanda Curran, Davenport, IA, and Matthew Curran, Minneapolis, MN; his significant other, Jacqueline Linton, Minneapolis, MN; as well as numerous loving extended family and friends.
