Goers, Ruth A person of extreme kindness and a beautiful smile died at the age of 101 at her home at Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park on June 8, 2018. Ruth was born May 15, 1917 in Barrington, Ill to Theodore and Esther (Amundsen) Ebel. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1935 and attended Chicago School of Business. She worked throughout her life as an executive secretary, a profession she excelled at and was proud of. She married her high school sweetheart Bill Goers on June 28, 1941. They resided in Elgin, Ill while both held jobs in Chicago until Bill entered the Army Air Force in 1943. Ruth joined him in Denver where he was stationed before going to active duty in central Europe. After his discharge in 1946 they settled back to Dundee, Ill to raise their 2 children. When retired they decided to move to Arizona. When Bill died 13 years later Ruth moved back to the Midwest to be closer to her daughter and family in Minnesota. She spent 15 joyful years and made many friendships at Lake Minnetonka Shores. Ruth enjoyed sewing, baking and entertaining in their homes. She is known for her singing, she would sing everyday, it was part of her soul and Gods spirit within her. Her favorite role was that of being a loving devoted wife, mother, grandma, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Bill Goers, her parents, siblings, Helen Vokac and Ted Ebel, daughter-in-law, Sandy Goers. Ruth is survived by son, Tom Goers of Snowmass, Co., daughter, Linda (Gary) Wright of Minnetrista and grandson, Tyler, sister-in-law Marilyn Goers of St Louis, Mo. and many nieces, nephews and friends who came from all over the country last May to celebrate Ruths 100th birthday. Memorial service 11:00 am Friday, June 15 in the Chapel at Lake Minnetonka Shores, 4523 Shoreline Dr. Spring Park with visitation one hour prior to the service. Ruth loved the visits from the Koala Bear Kids at Pres Homes and The Life Enrichment Dept. that brought in the animals to visit the residents.
