Rice, Alice Scully Age 87, of Eden Prairie, and formerly of Naples, FL, passed from this life peacefully on June 8. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, aunt, sister. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Charles; parents T. Alvin and Lillie; sister Rita, brother Alvin. Survived by Barbara Van Hauer (Chris) and Stephen (Nancy), of Minnetonka; Mary (Don Davies) of Zimmerman, Eileen of St. Louis Park, Nancy of Glendale, WI, and Lisa of Bloomington. Survived by grandchildren: JP (Kristina) & Andrew Van Hauer; Nick (Brytten) & Eric (Casey) Rice, Stephanie Hagen (Erik); and Dylan Rice, nine great- grandchildren; 30 nieces and nephews; dear friend, Mary Frances Messer and numerous friends. Alice received her B.S. from St. Louis University in 1952. She was one of four women to graduate with a Business Degree that year from SLU. She and Chuck were married in 1955. Over the course of the next 20 years they lived in Decatur, AL, Ramsey, NJ, and Des Peres, MO. They moved to Edina, MN in 1974. Alice and Chuck were members of St. Patrick's of Edina and later, Pax Christi Catholic Community. Alice served on the Parish Council in both churches for many years. Alice was active in the raising and the education of her children. She was a realtor from 1976-1996. She enjoyed getting to know people and matching them with their perfect home. Over the years Alice volunteered in leadership positions with Risen Christ Catholic School & Catholic Pastoral Committee on Sexual Minorities. She was an active volunteer with St. Vincent DePaul, St. Stephen's Church, the League of Catholic Women, and Pax Christi Catholic Community. She sought to live her life to reflect her Jesuit education. She enjoyed travel and expressed her gratitude for her many life blessings daily. Her thoughtfulness, compassionate spirit, and long-lasting and deep friendships will be fondly remembered and missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Catholic Charities or Pax Christi Catholic Community. Visitation on Thursday, June 14 from 4-7 PM at Washburn-McReavy, Edina Chapel, 5000 West 50th Street, Edina. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 15, 11 AM with visitation 1 hour prior all at Pax Christi, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
