Rogers, Robert George of Minne-tonka, died May 18, 2018. He was born Nov. 25, 1923 in Hopkins to George and Mary Rogers. He was their only son, and had 6 sisters. Preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Doris; sisters, Marcella Ring, Phyllis Elliot, Bernice Holmquist, Dorothy Gray, Margaret Chastek; and son-in-law, Bruce Mayer. Survived by his children, Rebecca Rogers, Tom (Mindy) Rogers, Mary (Dan) Miler, Nancy (Del) Smith, Julie Mayer and George Rogers; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister MaryAnn ( Buzz) Gray and many other relatives and friends. Bob served in the Navy as a radioman on several ships in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. After the war he joined George Rogers and Son Well Drilling and later became a primary founder and long time president of First Minnetonka City State Banks. Bob and Doris were lifelong residents of Minnetonka and spent their final years at the Glenn. Bob was an amateur pilot and enjoyed golf, card games and trips to the cabin. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 13505 Excelsior Blvd., Minnetonka. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Lunch after service. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Wounded Warriors or Folds of Honor.
