Cox, Donald B. Age 91 of Wayzata, Mound and Spring Park passed away peace- fully on March 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Folkestone Gables after a long battle with Parkinson's and cancer. He was born on July 23,1926 in Spring Park, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marie Cox. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Donna May; daughters, Susan Cox, Sandra (Dean) Eldred, Mary (Dan) Nelson; granddaughter, Nikki Nelson, his emotional support dog Cody, and many cousins. Don and Donna May both graduated from Mound High School and were married in 1951. They built their home and resided in Mound on Cooks Bay for more than 53 years as they loved Lake Minnetonka, as well as Fort Myers Beach, FL and Wayzata. Don's grandparents were one of the original settler families of Long Lake. His father and uncle Edgar established Cox Brothers in Spring Park in 1927 which Don took over in the 1950's, and later became Western Concrete Products; Don retired from Widmer Brothers in 1988. He was very successful in the excavating, grading and Redi-mix concrete business which helped develop and build many homes and businesses in the western suburbs. He was a charter member of the Mound Jaycees, active in Rotary Club, and was a board member of the State Bank of Long Lake (Lake Community Bank) for many year's. In retirement, Don and Donna loved to travel and spent several years travelling the US in their RV. They spent many happy winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL where they still have many friends and great memories. Don also volunteered much of his time in restoring the Minnehaha Street Car boat that sails on Lake Minnetonka, this was very special to him. The family would also like to thank the entire Folkestone Gables team for all their loving care and support. Memorial service at 11 am on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Wayzata Community Church, 125 Wayzata Blvd East, Wayzata, MN 55391, with visitation one hour prior to the service and a luncheon immediately following at the church. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers, The Museum of Lake Minnetonka (Steamboat Minnehaha), or Western Hennepin County Pioneer Association of Long Lake.
