Johnson, Jack R. Age 81 of New Hope, went to be with the Lord on 3/7/18. Preceded in death by parents; sister Beverly & brother Richard; survived by loving wife of 59 years Judy; children Jeff (Beth), Jim (Jody), Jay (Roxanne), Jeri (Andy) Joy, Julie (Stuart) Sundem; grandfather of Laura (Dave) Schmidt, Eric, Andrew, Derik, Mia, Kalley & Alaina Johnson, Carly & Lyle Joy, Sophia, Olivia and Gianna Sundem; great grandson Owen Schmidt; twin sister Janet Caldwell, other family and friends. Jack was born and raised in Ironwood, Michigan. He proudly served in the US Navy on the submarine USS Greenfish during the Korean War. Upon his return, he and Judy settled in Mpls, where they raised their 5 children. Jack was a loyal husband and adored his kids & grandkids, loving nothing more than being with them. He cherished playing senior softball, especially the fellowship and friendships that came with it. He loved the great outdoors and shared that love with his children and grandchildren. He had a kindness and inner joy that was apparent to everyone he knew and came in contact with. He and his great laugh will be greatly missed but he is on eternal patrol, cancer free and renewed by the eternal grace of God. Memorials preferred to the Humphrey Cancer Center or North Memorial Hospice.
