Schley, Peggy Therese O'Brien 1954 - 2018 Peggy Therese O'Brien Schley, 63, of Bloomington, passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2018. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at Pax Christi Catholic Community (12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie) on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 11 am with Fr. Steven McMichael, OFM, officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Abbey Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel (2300 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington) on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 4-8 pm and on Wednesday from 10 - 11 am at the church. Peggy Therese O'Brien was born August 26, 1954, to Thomas and Therese (Buley) O'Brien in New Prague. Peggy graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1972 and from the College of St. Benedict in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. While attending St. Ben's, she met Michael William Schley of Faribault who was a student at St. John's University (1976). The two were married on September 20, 1980 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Peggy is survived by her husband, Michael, and her three daughters Renée Therese (33), Maureen Otilla (30), and Erin Marie (25). Peggy is also survived by her parents and her brothers and sisters: Charlene Marie (George Kelzer), Thomas John (Connie Gramm), Paula Jean (Wayne Germscheid), John Michael (Betty Wickenhauser), Maury Patrick, and Lee Charles (Tracy Morgan). Peggy's love of St. Ben's began at an early age during visits to family. She enrolled in the fall of 1972. While attending and working on her degree in mathematics, she studied a J-Term in Denmark. St. Ben's (and St. John's where Michael attended) was always a strong part of her identity and she remained active as an alumna. Benedictine values were instilled in her as a Bennie; she passed them on to her daughters, all of whom chose to attend St. Ben's. Peggy was a wonderful wife and mother. She was an active member of the Pax Christi Catholic Community. During her youth, she was a member of 4-H and became a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts, beginning as a troop leader for each of her daughters. As part of her Girl Scout duties, she served as Service Unit Registrar, Regional Cookie Distributor, and Day Camp Coordinator. She led her daughters' troops in trips to the east coast and Europe. Even after her daughters became adult scouts, she continued to volunteer at numerous Girl Scout camping events as a cook. She spent many years as an accountant for Sperry-Univac (later re-named Unisys) in Eagan, CNA Insurance in Chicago, and several other companies. Peggy was a strong supporter of Catholic education. All three of her daughters attended Nativity of Mary in Bloomington, Benilde - St. Margaret's, and St. Ben's. She was an active volunteer in several roles. She loved watching her daughters play sports. Peggy was a kind, loving, and loyal wife, mother, and friend. With an incredible zest for life. In lieu of flowers, gifts should be made to the College of St. Benedict. Washburn-McReavy.com Werness Brothers 952-884-8145
