Benson, Barbara Jane (Bobie) of Mtka, formerly Long Lake, passed away peacefully in her sleep Feb. 15, 2018, at the age of 84. Our comfort is in knowing she's with our Lord and once again in the arms of those preceded in death: parents Alfred and Helen (Deak) Ischer, brother Howard, nephews, Howie Jr and Charlie: numerous beloved aunties, uncs and cousins. Born and raised in Chicago, she lived the remainder of her colorful life in MN. She was a wonderfully, loving mother of four and is survived by son Doug (Haziel) Benson and daughters Paula (Irving) Gonzalez, Linda (Mike) Murphy and Nancy (Matt) Wilber: grandchildren, Daniel Ellis, Chelsie Jones and Austin Rush: great grandchildren, Devon, Kiera and Kenzie Cooley: many beloved relatives and numerous close friends. Many knew what a prolific writer of poetry mom was but few knew she was also a talented artist, passing down her skill three generations. Mom adored and loved everyone she met and cherished every little trinket she kept. Mom was so easy to please, loved to laugh, always excited to see you and never wanted your visit to end. We may not have been ready to let her go but she always insisted when it's your time, thy will be done and we thank God for the life of Barbara Benson. At mom's request, her body was donated to the U of MN for Research. A memorial is planned on Barbara's Birthday, Tuesday, March 20, 2018 between 7:00-9:00 PM at the Hopkins VFW, 100 Shady Oak Rd S. off Excelsior Blvd. All are welcome.
