Roberts, Alvina Emma (Melchert) formerly of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Hudson, Wisconsin died February 19, 2018, at her home in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Alvina was 94. She was born October 19, 1923 in Waconia, Minnesota to Theresa (Molnau) and August Melchert. Alvina was baptized and confirmed into faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. She sang in the church choir and in the Waconia High School Glee Club, which went on to State Competition and won a National Award. As a 4-H member she won State Reserve Champion for her demonstration "How to Arrange Flowers" at the Minnesota State Fair. Prior to starting a family she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and later as a Registered X-Ray Tech at the Nicollet Clinic. Alvina was married at Trinity Lutheran Church on October 17, 1959 to Frank G. Roberts of Minneapolis a love that endured 50 years. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Hugh and Bret. Alvina & Frank lived in north Minneapolis for 37 years, where Alvina was very active at Victory Lutheran Church with her sons. She was a Sunday School Teacher, served on the Church Council, the Altar Guild, and as President of the Women's Group. When Victory Lutheran opened their doors for the Red Cross Congregate Dining Program, she served as Hostess & Food Coordinator for 15 years. Alvina was also a 4-H Leader for many years while her boys were growing up. In the year 2000 they sold their Minneapolis home and moved to Hudson, Wisconsin to be closer to their son Hugh, wife Debby and grandsons Franklin and Joseph. Bret and his former wife Ann, whom lived in Luxemburg, also blessed them with three wonderful granddaughters Aoife, Ciara and Siona. Alvina is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; brothers, John, Gilbert and Alfred; sisters, Lillian Beiersdorf and Esther Pranschke; as well as sisters-in-law, Katherine Johnson, Shirley Barich, Deloris Bowman; and brother-in-law Michael. Alvina loved being with her family, especially her nieces and nephews they were like her children to her. Sincere heartfelt thanks to the staff of Wissota Place who became her second family over the past 9 years and took extraordinary care of Alvina, as well as St. Joseph's Hospice whom helped her to pass with grace into God's loving arms. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 3rd, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
