Fr. Frederick Schneider, O.F.M.

Schneider, Fr. Frederick, O.F.M. Died, at 94 years of age, on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at St. Mary's Home at Felician Village in Manitowoc, WI. Fr. Frederick was born on June 20, 1923, in Victoria, MN, to Leonard and Frances (Notermann) Schneider. He was received into the Franciscans of the Sacred Heart Province in 1942 and made his solemn profession in 1946. He was ordained a priest on June 24, 1949 in Teutopolis, IL. Fr. Frederick was sent to Brazil as a missionary and served there for 30 years. After returning to the states, his ministry included parish work in Iowa, Ohio, Nebraska, Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, and Arkansas. He retired from active ministry in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers: Victor (Evelyn), Edward, Fr. Conran, O.F.M., and Leander (Adeline), and his sister: Ann (Jerome) Dauwalter. He is survived by his brother Gerald and wife Nancy Schneider, his sister-in-law, Kay Schneider, many nieces and nephews and his Franciscan brothers of the Sacred Heart Province. Funeral services will be held at St. Victoria Church in Victoria, MN, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral liturgy at 11:00 a.m. with burial at St. Victoria Cemetery.
