McGinty, Emmett J. Age 90, of Minneapolis, passed away January 26, 2018. Preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Pat McGinty (nee Sullivan), Daughter Patty McGinty Worden, Grandson Johnny Worden, Brothers Harry, Bob and Bert. Served in the United States Army 1946- 1947, The Korean Conflict 1950-1951, Infantry Combat and was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry in action. Survived by Daughters, Kathleen McGinty Borg (John), Peggy McGinty, Mary Pat McGinty Cherrey (Rile), Grandchildren, Molly McGinty Thornton (Patrick), Sean McGinty Borg (Molly), Meggie McGinty Martin (Matt), Timmy McGinty, Charlie McGinty Worden, Cassie McGinty Cherrey, Ryan McGinty Cherrey, Great Grandchildren, Grace, Danny, Emmett, Teddy, William, Attley and two more "Greats" on the way. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He cherished his time with his family and never wanted to miss "Sunday Dinner". He spent his career in the candy business becoming the president and owner of a candy manufacturer's representative business. He was a graduate of St. Thomas Academy and the University of Minnesota. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and was proud of his years of military service. The family thanks the amazing caregivers at Friendship Village for the loving care and attention they gave our dad to the end. VISITATION 5-7:30 pm Monday, January 29th in the CELTIC CENTER at THE CHURCH OF ST. PATRICK, Valley View at Gleason Rd., Edina. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am Tuesday, January 30th with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, also at the CHURCH OF ST. PATRICK. Private Burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
