Menanteau Dr. Darío age 80, passed away 1/11/18. Born 12/28/37 in Chile, Darío had 5 siblings and earned Journalism & Sociology degrees (Chile), Master's (NH) & Ph.D in Sociology (U of MN). As U of MN Professor of Sociology & Director of the Center of Rural Sociology & Community Analysis, Darío's distinguished career spanned 50 years, retiring as Professor Emeritus. Darío was Honorary Consul of Chile & "Extraordinary Professor" at the Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia. He influenced colleagues, students & community and his research has global impact. Survived by his wife Diana, 4 children [Darío H. (Vanessa), Alicia, Rachelle (Tony Peleska) & Beatríz (JP Stutzman)], 6 grandchildren, family in Chile & MN. Service & gathering 3/2/18, 5-7 pm, Incarnation Church, 3817 Pleasant Ave, Mpls. 55409. Memorial: Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Darío's humanity was far-reaching. He is deeply loved & will be forever remembered.
