Mary Kathryn 'Kay' Byrne

Byrne, Mary Kathryn "Kay" Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandma. Age 98, passed away peacefully Monday, January 8, 2018. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Myrtle Hyland; sisters Rose, Eileen, Margaret, brother Edward; husband James Byrne, and son Kevin Byrne. Survived by sons Bryan, Shawn (Renee), daughter-in-law Maricor, grandsons David and Daniel, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She graduated from Muldoon HS in Rockford IL and went on to attend the St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing 1946 where she received a degree in Nursing. Worked as a RN for almost 50 years at St. Mary's and other extended care facilities. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandma and friend. She loved her bridge groups and many St. Patrick's Day parties, and the St. Thomas Univ. faculty. She loved music, going to the theater and was always there to help friends and family. She was a surrogate Mother for many students and relatives. 1/20/18 Visitation from 8:30-10:30 AM, funeral mass and lunch to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lake St. Croix Beach, Minnesota.
