van Hoek, Shalini Dhuria age 43, passed away unexpectedly on Jan 2, 2018, surrounded by family during her final moments in San Francisco. She is survived by her husband, Pim; parents: Vinod and Suman; siblings: Shyeilla (Belle), Atul (Jenn), Rahul (Leah and Jaya). Shalini was born on May 11, 1974 in Abohar, India and was raised in Minneapolis. Shalini graduated with degrees in Child Psychology and French from the University of MN. After her marriage, she relocated to San Diego and later to Camarillo. She was passionate about non-profits, first supporting cancer patients at the American Cancer Society and then potential donors at the National Marrow Donor Program. She enjoyed hiking, cooking, visiting new places, and exploring art, music and museums. Her family and friends will always remember her tremendous capacity for love, her gentle and thoughtful ways, her laughter, and her beautiful smile. A Hindu prayer and memorial will be held Jan 13, 2018 from 3-7 pm at the Hindu Temple of Minnesota (10530 Troy Ln N, Maple Grove, MN 55311). In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Shalini's name to Camarillo Family YMCA, American Cancer Society, and Be the Match.
