Wickstrom, Dr. Per H. of Duluth , passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, of prostate cancer. Per was born in Omaha, NE, to Gustave and Arlie (Henrikson) Wickstrom on July 28, 1942. He graduated from Benson HS in Omaha, Yale University and Yale Medical School. He received his surgical and cardiovascular surgical training in Minneapolis and in 1979 joined the Park Nicollet Clinic where he practiced with Dr. Hovald Helseth and Dr. Bjorn Monson. In 1983 he moved to Duluth where he started the Heart Surgery Program at St. Mary's Hospital/Duluth Clinic. He retired from that practice in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, his brother Jack Wickstrom, and 5 nephews and their families. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5PM to 7PM in Dougherty Funeral. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805, and will continue Saturday January 13, 2018 from 10AM until the 11AM Memorial Service in First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Skyline Pkwy, Duluth, MN 55811. Memorials preferred to CHUM, 102 W 2nd St, Duluth, MN 55802 or to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 219 North 6th Ave E, Duluth, MN 55805.
