How to place an obituary
Paid obituary notices may be placed by phone, fax, electronically or by regular mail.

Required information:

1. Your phone number, name, address, and the city of deceased. Prepayment is required for all obituaries. For your convenience, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover & American Express.

2. The name and phone number of the mortuary or cremation provider handling arrangements. This information is kept confidential and is for our records only. We cannot publish an obituary without this information.

3. Please state when the notice should appear (day and date). All obituaries will appear in all editions of the newspaper and at startribune.com/obituaries.

Full name (bold print = 2 or 4 lines of space)
Age
City
Date of death
Preceded in death by
Survived by
Visitation information (day, time, location)
Service information (day, time, location)
Interment
Memorial preferences (if any)
City of the deceased to be included in the index.

Adding a photo or graphic
Multiple photos and graphics are available and increase line count.

Electronic submission of photos and/or text may be uploaded at http://addesk.startribune.com (choose File Delivery - Obituaries - Send Files Without Registering) or via e-mail to: paidobits@startribune.com. Photos should be in .TIF or high-quality .JPG (minimum 200 dpi) formats.

A courier is available in the immediate metro area for photo pick-up Monday-Friday. Please call us at 612-673-4130 before 4 pm weekdays to arrange pick-up. Photos may be dropped off at 425 Portland Ave S (at Shipping & Receiving, 4th & Portland) before 5:30 pm Monday-Friday.

Information on rates
The cost of a paid funeral notice is $9.95 per line per day in all editions plus $29.99 for a one year online guestbook sponsorship.
