Last update: July 16, 2002 - 11:00 PM

Services have been arranged in Crosslake, Minn., and in St. Paul for Roger Awsumb, who as Casey Jones hosted popular children's programs on Twin Cities television stations in the 1950s, '60s and early '70s.

Awsumb, 74, of Merrifield, died Monday at a Brainerd hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Weyerhaeuser Chapel at Macalester College in St. Paul. Awsumb started his broadcast career at the campus radio station, and he was a 1950 graduate of the college.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Nelson of Shoreview; sons Robert of St. Paul and John of Minneapolis; a stepson, Greg Chapman of Edina; a sister, Doris Forsberg of St. Paul; brothers Ken of Bemidji, Minn., and Ardin of San Gabriel, Calif., and seven grandchildren. A daughter, Amy, preceded him in death.
