The meanest man in comedy

You know that bushy-haired fellow who's at every Comedy Central Roast? Yeah, that guy -- Jeffrey Ross -- is now turning his sights on us common folk. Donald Trump, Pam Anderson and Charlie Sheen all have been under his boot (On Sheen: "Charlie's nostrils are so snotty and full of coke he calls them the Hilton sisters."). He'll be at the Varsity Theater Saturday for "Jeff Ross Roasts America," where the insult comic will tell his jokes and hopefully pick people out of the audience to skewer. Good times.

One word: "Buttafuoco" After defacing a Tori Spelling Lifetime TV-movie in November, "The Women in Crisis" series is back at the Bryant-Lake Bowl Saturday night. Once again, the crew, led by drag performer David Hanbury, will provide hilarious commentary during a screening of one terrible movie (think "Mystery Science Theater 3000" but gayer). This time the flick is 1993's "The Amy Fisher Story," starring a young Drew Barrymore as Joey Buttafuoco's teenage mistress. Fans of the series typically come dressed in Zubaz and scrunchies (a tribute to the era of bad 1990s made-for-TV movies). They'll also be handing out prizes in an Amy-and-Joey costume contest.

Biggest shanty in town One of the oldest bars in St. Paul is trying something new. Gone is O'Gara's Garage (the Irish bar's live-music venue). In its place comes The Shanty, a completely remodeled space that will focus on craft beer and State Fair appetizers (onion rings fried in Schell's batter, anyone?). O'Gara's new party palace will feature shuffleboard and other bar games, plus trivia and a Saturday dance night called "Shake the Shanty" (with capacity for 600 people). The grand opening weekend will feature beer tastings, 2 Gingers Whiskey tastings, plus a lot of music.
