The Chicago Blackhawks gave the idle Wild a little help Sunday when they defeated Colorado 2-1 in overtime, denying the Avalanche a second point.

Duncan Keith got the game-winner, with an assist from Brandon Saad, 1:23 into OT. Minnesota is now two points behind Colorado for the second wild card spot.

Carolina 2, Montreal 1 (OT): Andrei Svechnikov scored with 1:45 left in overtime as the Hurricanes rallied to beat the visiting Canadiens. With the win, Carolina remained alone in the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference while Montreal squandered a chance to move into a tie with the Hurricanes.

N.Y. Islanders 2, Arizona 0: Jordan Eberle and Brock Nelson scored to back Robin Lehner's fifth shutout of the season.

Washington 3, Philadelphia 1: Braden Holtby made 35 saves and the host Capitals beat the Flyers to snap a two-game skid.

Columbus 5, Vancouver 0: Josh Anderson scored twice and Sergei Bobrovsky had 21 saves in the road victory.
