Scrutinizing ballots for voter’s intent

During the hand-count of the 2.9 million U.S. Senate ballots, officials are looking for voter intent, even if the ballot was marked incorrectly. These illustrations were created by the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office, using blank ballots from previous elections, to show how some voters improperly record their vote.
