Stretch of I-494 in south metro closing soon in both directions

One of the busiest stretches of highway in the Twin Cities area is closing for a chunk of the upcoming weekend. Both directions of Interstate 494, along the Bloomington-Richfield border will be shut down starting at 10 p.m. Friday between Hwy. 77/Cedar Avenue and Interstate 35W as workers paint the 2nd Avenue pedestrian bridge, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
