All hail the Queens

It's Ladies Night at the "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" with tributes to Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim and Salt-N-Pepa. If the live event includes a group singalong of S-N-P's "Shoop," I'm in. Eve handles hosting duties.

In the driver's seat

It's been a rough ride for "Top Gear" fans. Last week, we learned that Chris Evans won't be returning to the hit series, with former "Friends" star Matt LeBlanc shifting into chief hosting duties. The ride appears to be a bit smoother these days for regular Chris Harris, who is starting up his very own series, "Chris Harris on Cars," which will zoom in the world's fastest, most expensive road racers. Hey, Chris. Is that Matthew Perry in your rearview mirror?

You can call me Al

"The Making of the Mob: Chicago" has a different take on the Al Capone that we've grown to hiss at in everything from "The Untouchables" to "Boardwalk Empire." Using high-budget re-enactments and interviews, this docudrama tries selling viewers a sympathetic Irish kid who got dragged into the criminal life to provide for his family. At least the eight-part series doesn't try to convince viewers that bashing in an underling's skull with a baseball bat was Scarface's way of paying tribute to America's Pastime.
