Of the 734 doctors (in a sample of 1,500 deceased doctors) who were tied to claims after their death, 11 had Minnesota addresses.
The ID numbers of those 11 doctors were found on 351 claims submitted between 2000 and 2007, amounting to more than $36,111.
Extrapolating those figures to the entire universe of American Medical Association data, an estimate of claims involving deceased Minnesota doctors would be:
Between 2000 and 2007, the ID numbers of as many as 274 Minnesota doctors who died between 1992 and 2002 were used on as many as 4,265 claims, totaling as much as $455,102.
