BEAUFORT, N.C. — Blackbeard's ship has surrendered more of its historical treasures.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reports (http://bit.ly/16ly23N) that two cannon have been raised from the wreck of the Queen Anne's Revenge off the North Carolina coast on Thursday.

A dive expedition at the site this month had hoped to bring up eight cannon. But efforts were hampered by bad weather until Thursday.

There's a $450,000 effort underway to remove all the artifacts from the ship by the end of next year. An extended dive expedition is planned this fall.

Blackbeard captured a French slave ship and renamed it Queen Anne's Revenge in 1717. Volunteers with the Royal Navy killed Blackbeard in Ocracoke Inlet the following year, five months after the ship sank.
