A woman and one of her daughters remained in critical condition on Monday, two days after their house in southwestern Minnesota exploded and caught fire while the woman and her three girls were asleep.
Sonja Timmons, 31, of Tracy, and daughter Kaylee, 8, are being treated at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Another daughter, MKena, 2, is in serious condition at Regions, while 2-month-old Jaydn is in good condition, said hospital spokeswoman Pat Lund.
The injured family members are looking at "multiple surgeries and months of physical rehabilitation," Lund said.
Jaydn may well have fared much worse if neighbor Matt Schons hadn't raced into the home, scooped up the infant and run to safety with flames all around him.
Fire Chief Dale Johnson III said on Sunday that the blast and fire, which destroyed the house, are under investigation.
Sonja Timmons' fiancé, Troy Haugen, who was at work at the time more than 20 miles away in Marshall, issued a statement, saying, "Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time."
A fund has been established to help the family with medical expenses.
Donations can be made by credit card by calling the First Independent Bank in Balaton, Minn., at 1-507-734-2100. Or, checks made out to Sonja Timmons and family can be mailed to the bank: 108 3rd St., Balaton, MN 56115.
