Nikita Kucherov had two goals and three assists as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 Monday night for their sixth straight win.Kucherov has an NHL-best 99 points, with seven goals in his past five games.
"A big-time player came to play and our goaltender held us in," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said.
Columbus outshot the Lightning 19-6 in the first period, but Kucherov scored twice.
Chicago 8, Ottawa 7: Alex DeBrincat had three goals and two assists and the host Blackhawks' Patrick Kane scored his 36th goal and ran his point streak to 18 games, an NHL seaosn high. Both goalies were pulled during the first period, which ended with the Blackhawks up 5-4. Colin White and Thomas Chabot each had two goals for the Seantors.
Calgary 5, Arizona 2: Michael Frolik and Mikael Backlund each had a goal and an assist in the third period, helping the host Flames pull away. Calvin Pickard finished with 29 saves in his third start in goal for Arizona since being claimed off waivers from Philadelphia on Nov. 29
Colorado 3, Vegas 0: The Avalanche ended a six-game home skid, sparked by Andrew Agozzino's first NHL goal and 40 saves from Semyon Varlamov. The 28-year-old Agozzino was recalled Sunday from Colorado of the AHL.
Okposo sidelined: Buffalo sent forward Kyle Okposo home for further evaluation, three days after being punched in the face during a fight with the Rangers' Tony DeAngelo.
