Junior Cherae Reeves of Concordia (Moorhead) was third in the shot put (48-7¼), senior Kao Sutton of Carleton fourth (47-1½) and senior Becky Huberty of St. Scholastica fifth (46-5¼). Freshman Kimber Meyer of Macalester was fifth in the 3,000 (9:46.31).• Junior Grant Wintheiser of St. Olaf placed second in the men's 3,000 (8:11.83).

St. Cloud State placed sixth with 51 points in the NCAA Division II wrestling championships in Cleveland with four All-America finishes. Clint Poster of the Huskies was third at 157 pounds, Jay Hildreth fourth at 149, Austin Goergen sixth at heavyweight and Gabe Fogarty seventh at 165.

• Augsburg's Mike Fueffinger defeated Lucas Malmberg of Messiah (Pa.) 12-4 for the 125-pound title in the NCAA Division III national wrestling championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The junior from Hibbing finished the seasons 34-3. Heavyweight Chad Johnson, a two-time defending national champion, took third place as a senior. The Auggies were fifth as a team with 43 points.
• Wisconsin-Stevens Point beat host St. Thomas 3-0 in the NCAA Division III men's hockey playoffs. The Pointers scored all their goals in the third period.
• Minnesota Duluth freshman Samantha Rivard won the mile (4:50.31) and placed third in the 3,0000 (9:44.98) in the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. … Two Minnesota State Mankato seniors placed high in two events in the men's meet, too. Jerrell Hancock was second in the 200 (21.33) and fourth in the 60 (6.78). Christopher Reed was second in the shot put (62-11½) and fourth in the weight throw (68-5).
