In a neighborhood lined with presidential streets, Presidents' Day is a major occasion.
For the fourth year, Minneapolitans walked the streets of Northeast on Saturday in celebration of the country's 44 presidents. About 30 of those presidents -- from Washington to Hoover -- are also street names in Northeast Minneapolis.
Sheila Biernat, a walk coordinator, said they stopped occasionally to discuss different presidential biographies and the state of the area during that time period. The event ended at Northeast Middle School, where about 150 residents gathered to participate in a trivia contest.
