A 19-year-old man was shot to death during the day in a south Minneapolis apartment, and authorities said Thursday the bloodshed appears to involve people who knew each other.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of 3rd Avenue S.

The man was taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died. Authorities have yet to release the man's identity.

"Homicide investigators are interviewing witnesses and following up on available leads," police said in a statement early Thursday, adding, "This does not appear to have been a random incident."

Dan Largen, operations manager for the building's owner, said, "Neither the victim nor the shooter were tenants. The actual tenant [of the apartment] had only lived there for five days."

Largen said other tenants in the building had been informing him of "lots of traffic and noise" coming from the third-floor residence.

Resident Sarah Wondra said police told her a bullet from the shooting pierced her kitchen wall, ricocheted off a cabinet and landed on her stove. Wondra said she was not home at the time.

Wondra, also new to the building, said she has "heard arguing" in the apartment where the shooting occurred.

Despite a homicide so close to her, Wondra said she's not worried and intends to stay put.
