A Minneapolis man pleaded guilty Thursday to a drunken-driving crash on I-94 in 2011 that killed a man and seriously injured two people.
Eugene Farrell, 63, pleaded guilty in Ramsey County District Court to criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation in the Dec. 18 accident that killed Marcus P. Andary, 21.
According to the criminal complaint: Andary, an Iowa State student, and a passenger were westbound on I-94 near Lexington Parkway when they struck a car driven by Alicia A. Kaufenberg. Kaufenberg’s car rolled over, coming to rest on its roof.
Andary pulled over and ran to Kaufenberg’s car to help. A Minneapolis man, Keith M. Barnes, also stopped to help. The two men and Kaufenberg, who had crawled out, were standing near the overturned car when Farrell’s minivan hit the three of them and the car. Farrell will be sentenced on June 14.
