Metallica stopped by “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday night to perform a very special version of “Enter Sandman” — on classroom musical instruments.
The rock band’s lead singer, James Hetfield belted out the tune and played a brightly colored toy clarinet while Fallon joined in on kazoo and Casio keyboard.
Metallica percussionist Lars Ulrich, meanwhile, banged out the beats on a Fisher Price drum set with toy cymbals.
Metallica scored a big hit with “Enter Sandman” off of their 1991 self-titled debut album but it never sounded quite the way it did on “The Tonight Show.”
The NBC late-night host has done multiple covers with top musicians using classroom instruments, including “Hello” with Adele, “Call Me Maybe” with Carly Rae Jepsen, “Let It Go” with “Frozen” star Idina Menzel and “All I Want for Christmas Is You” with Mariah Carey.
