A woman under the influence of alcohol crashed while riding a small electrical vehicle up the road from her home north of Duluth and died, authorities said Wednesday.

Rolene W. Rogers, 66, was riding the vehicle shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday and rolled over while on southbound Howard Gnesen Road in Gnesen Township, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

Rogers, who lived about 3½ miles to the south on the same road in Rice Lake, was trapped briefly under the vehicle, the Sheriff's Office added.

An ambulance took her to a hospital in Duluth, where she died two days later.

The Sheriff's Office noted in a statement that "alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor" in the crash.

Authorities have yet to be more specific about the type of vehicle that Rogers was operating.
