Wine

For many of us, spring means riesling (actually, for some of us, any season means riesling). And while Germany and Alsace are renowned for this grape, Washington state is catching up quickly, and at friendly prices. The 2012 Washington Hills Riesling ($12) brings lemon and honey flavors galore, with a pleasant mouthfeel and a longish, clean finish. Try it with spicy Indian or Thai dishes or with pork roast. (By the way, Washington Hills winemaker Bill Murray will be in town for this year's WineFest events, on May 10-11.)

Available at Liquor Boy, Perrier, Vicksburg, the Wine Market, Lakeside, Napa Valley Liquor, Clock Tower and others.
