Brent Flahr says Nick Johnson may play tonight if he gets to Columbus on time, which is 50/50

Morning from Columbus -- afternoon here -- where the Wild has claimed PIttsburgh's Nick Johnson off waivers. He's a 25-year-old minor-league skilled guy who has shown checking ability in the NHL, especially this preseason.

"He's a big winger who's got pretty good hands and is a pretty good puck control guy," said assistant GM Brent Flahr. "He played well when he got called up last year and just got caught up in the numbers game there in Pittsburgh."

Johnson will either have to stay on the Wild roster or pass through waivers to get to Houston.

The Wild's final roster is due Oct. 5, so it gives Johnson a little while to try to compete for a spot.

Flahr said the Wild did this to add more depth with Brad Staubitz suspended and Cody Almond hurt. This obviously will create more competition for Casey Wellman and Brett Bulmer to make the team.

Matt Cullen (neck) and Jared Spurgeon (rib) are out tonight, so same lineup tonight as Tuesday unless Nate Prosser gets in. Wild's 3-0 with Prosser in the lineup, by the way, and 0-2 without him.
