Afternoon from the friendly skies on my way to L.A. Delta has wi-fi.

The Wild's depth at center took an even bigger hit this afternoon.

With Mikko Koivu already out, Kyle Brodziak didn't travel with the Wild to California because of illness. Brodziak has 15 points in the Wild's 11-4-1 run and has stepped up his game dramatically during this terrific season he's having

It's unclear as to whether he'll be able to fly commercially Thursday or Friday right now just because management's in the air with the team. If he comes, it would seem like Friday at Anaheim would be more likely.

But as of now, the team recalled center Jed Ortmeyer to make his Wild debut.

Ortmeyer, a former University of Michigan standout, has played 306 NHL games and was signed Jan. 1. He was a Masterton Trophy finalist last year, an award won by Jose Theodore

Ortmeyer, 32 (9/3/78), has notched eight points (2-6=8) and 17 penalty minutes (PIM) in 22 games with the Aeros this season, after compiling three points (2-1=3) and 17 PIM in 22 games with the San Antonio Rampage. Houston has posted a record of 15-5-2 since Ortmeyer joined the club. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Omaha, Neb., has skated in 306 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Nashville and San Jose, accumulating 51 points (21-30=51) and 145 PIM in six seasons. In 2009-10 with San Jose, Ortmeyer collected a career-high 19 points (8-11=19) in 76 regular season games while notching one assist in four playoff games. He was the Rangers' 2007 nominee to win the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for dedication to the game. Ortmeyer played collegiately at the University of Michigan and was signed as a free agent by the Wild on Jan. 5.

Prosser, 24 (5/7/86), has posted 19 points (6-13=19) and 27 penalty minutes (PIM) in 58 games with the Aeros this season. The Elk River, Minn., native played three games with Minnesota in the 2009-10 season after signing as a college free agent on March 18, 2010, totaling one assist and eight PIM. Prosser posted 28 points (4-24=28) in 39 games for Colorado College in 2009-10, his senior season. He ranked second in the WCHA in defensemen scoring. Prosser had totals of 64 points (12-52=64) in 137 games over four seasons with Colorado College. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound blueliner was a two-time all-conference selection at Elk River High School, where he participated in two state tournaments. Prosser wears No. 39 with Minnesota.
