Preview: After losing two of its past three games to fall to ninth in the Western Conference, the Wild looks to rebound in the first of back-to-back games in New York. The Wild, 6-4 in its past 10 road games, plays an Islanders team that is 6-3-2 in its past 11 games after losing 2-1 at Washington in overtime Tuesday.

Players to watch: RW Martin Havlat leads the Wild with 54 points; the Wild is 12-2-3 when he scores a goal and 12-12-3 when he gets a point.... The Islanders' leading scorer, C John Tavares, has one point in four games and no goals in his past six. LW Matt Moulson has seven goals in his past six games.

Injuries: Wild W Chuck Kobasew is ill and did not travel with the team. C Mikko Koivu (broken finger) and D Cam Barker (upper body) are out. Koivu, with a cast on his finger, resumed skating on his own Tuesday. Islanders D Radek Martinek (lower body) is listed as day-to-day. D Milan Jurcina (groin) and G Rick DiPietro (facial fractures) are doubtful; D Mark Streit (shoulder) and C Doug Weight (back) are out.

Etc: The Wild called up Jed Ortmeyer from AHL Houston and traded minor leaguer Petr Kalus, acquired in 2007 for Manny Fernandez, to Columbus on Tuesday for future considerations. Kalus, 23, had eight points and 68 penalty minutes in 34 games with Houston this season. He played in two games with the Wild last season.
