BOSTON -- Brad Childress did not tell his team on Saturday night who would start at quarterback this afternoon at New England and it's possible nothing will be official until 90 minutes before game time when inactives and starter changes are announced.

This means that until then the pregame shows and talk-show hosts -- and us -- will be able to speculate about whether Favre or Tarvaris Jackson will get the call. However, I side with those of you who have tired of this story. Unless he has a pregame setback, Favre is going to start this game on his fractured left ankle and heel and will extend his NFL-record starting streak to 292 regular-season games.

This became pretty obvious when Favre was able to take half the snaps on Friday in practice. The plan is for him to wear a size-15 shoe -- one size bigger than usual -- that will have a protective cover.

Meanwhile, ESPN's Ed Werder reports that Favre isn't sure he can make it through the game if he does start. It's no surprise Favre would say this. He often attempts to lower expectations just in case. Favre also told Werder he doesn't expect to have an injection in his foot that would numb the pain.
