Maiden Minnesota on Friday

Maiden Minnesota celebrates another year of women-owned companies based in the state with its ninth boutique shopping event. This year's shopping is from 2-9 p.m. Nov. 6 at Loews Minneapolis Hotel, 601 1st Av. N., Mpls. The more than 35 vendors will include several food- and kitchen-related companies such as Sweet Sumthings, Scout Vintage Collections, Thumbs Cookies and Droolin' Moose. The event also benefits Dress for Success, a local nonprofit working to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire and career development tools. Tickets are $20 in advance online until noon on Nov. 6, then $30 at the door (and includes one drink ticket). Five dollars from each ticket goes to Dress for Success. Mill City winter market dates

Just because there'll soon be snow in the garden doesn't mean farmers markets will shut down for good. Mill City Farmers Market announced its indoor season, when vendors will be inside the Mill City Museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., so mark these dates on your calendars: Nov. 14 and 21; Dec. 12 and 19; Jan. 9; Feb. 13; March 5 at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, then back in Minneapolis on March 12, then April 9. After that, it's back to spring! For details, visit millcityfarmersmarket.org.

TPT food series, part 2

In their continuing effort to introduce consumers to the farmers behind their food, the Minnesota Farmers Union and Twin Cities PBS now are airing the second in their series, "Farm Fresh Road Trip 2." Twin Cities Public Television host Mary Lahammer travels from small town to suburbs, talking with chefs and farmers about their work. It will air on the TPT MN channel on Nov. 8 at 1 a.m., 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., and on Dec. 13 at noon on TPT Life. For more information, see bit.ly/1HevBkZ.
