After the first two-interception game of his career, Vikings safety Harrison Smith has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Smith picked off two passes in the Vikings' 13-0 win over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, stepping in front of a Brett Hundley throw to thwart the Packers' best chance to score in the first half and sealing the game with a sideline interception in the fourth quarter. He also posted eight tackles, including one for loss, and broke up two passes.

The safety, who was not named to his third Pro Bowl despite his role in the league's top-ranked defense, has matched his career high with five interceptions this season, while recording 1 1/2 sacks and 72 combined tackles.

He is the third Vikings player to win NFC Player of the Week honors this season, and the first on the defensive side of the ball to claim the honor; Sam Bradford was the NFC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 1, and Kai Forbath won NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in Week 7.
