coming up this week on the draft

The Star Tribune began a five-part series Sunday previewing baseball's draft, which starts Thursday. The Twins have the No. 4 overall pick after picking No. 2 last year. The series kicked off with a look at teenage outfielder Byron Buxton, whom the Twins took with that No. 2 pick a year ago. The rest of the lineup:

Monday: A look at how slotting — where MLB assigns suggested bonus money for each pick — has changed the draft.

Tuesday: Indiana State lefthander Sean Manaea started the season as a likely top five pick. But an injury suffered at the Metrodome has made him one of the draft's biggest questions.

Wednesday: The Minnesota high school senior class has a strong collection of players likely to be selected in the top five rounds, including outfielder Ryan Boldt of Red Wing and pitchers Logan Shore of Coon Rapids and Max Knutson of Mounds View.

Thursday: A look at the players the Twins figure to have available with the No. 4 overall pick, and an overall look at the strengths and weaknesses of this draft class.
