DETROIT -- The Twins are still the worst team in the majors and still losing at an astounding clip, but for what it's worth, the losses have been different of late.

For one thing, they're scoring more. They've averaged 4.8 runs scored over their past 11 games but are 3-8 in that stretch. Overall, they still average 3.5 runs per game, lowest in the American League.

Their last three losses -- two against the Angels and one against the Tigers -- have all been by the same score: 6-5.

After Monday's defeat in Detroit, Manager Ron Gardenhire said, "The ballgame was frustrating to say the least. We actually battled our tails off pretty good. ... If we continue to play as hard as we did today, we'll be OK. We're getting after it pretty good."

Of course, if Jason Kubel's left foot injury is serious, the Twins will be without their leading hitter moving forward. Not to mention Joe Mauer and Tsuyoshi Nishioka.
