The Twins were swept by the White Sox in three games at U.S. Cellular Field this week and head home 2-4 after the sox-game road trip. And you can't point a finger at one area. There were break downs in every area.

Offense: The Twins were 3-for-31 in the series with runners in scoring position. But they were 7-for-50 on the road trip. It's hard to win when you hit .140 with runners in scoring position. On Monday they grounded into five double plays. FIVE!

Defense: The Twins committed three errors on Tuesday and came back with one on Wednesday. Ryan Doumit forgot how many outs there were. Brian Dozier looked like he had been faked out by Adrian Peterson on a ground ball. Josh Willingham hit home runs but is not gifted in left field.

Starters: They entered Wednesday having pitched at least six innings in six of their last seven games. But the one exception was Francisco Liriano's meltdown on Monday and Nick Blackburn's struggles today.

Relievers: Tuesday's epic meltdown gave them a 9.00 this season against the White Sox. For the most part, they have done the job, but you worry if they will be signs of fatigue in August to key members because of workload. And Gardy is turning to a few guys who don't have a lot of experience.

It's a mess. And making a deal or two by next week's deadline is not going to solve everything.
