We've been writing a heck of a lot about injuries so far. I was looking some old sections this morning, and found the story I wrote right before Opening Day about how the Twins were healthy while several other teams had injury issues.

Boy, that has changed. Delmon Young was placed on the disabled list Wednesday and Rene Tosoni was called up. With Anthony Swarzak coming up, That's seven callups from Rochester this month.

A quick rundown of injuries:

Jim Thome: He didn't play on Wednesday because of mild left oblique strain. Thome said he's feeling better and his goal was to be available Thursday, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire sounded skeptical.

``That being said, if he walks in and wants to take some swings, that's fine," Gardy said. `` He told me he still feels it and I don't think there's any chance (he'll be available). I don't think it is a DL thing - that's what Thome told me, he says a couple days and he will be fine."

Jason Repko has a strained left quadriceps and was available only in an emergency on Wednesday. Sounds like he'll be iffy on Thursday. Perhaps another reason why they called up Tosoni and put Young on the DL.

Joe Mauer: Gardy didn't have much to add to Bill Smith's update on Tuesday. I keep hearing Mauer is around, but I didn't see him Sunday or today. He can come off the DL Thursday but that ain't happening.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka is moving around better as he recovers from a broken left fibula. He's had X-Rays taken every week to 10 days, and it sounds like he's making good progress. The estimate was that he'd miss four to six weeks, and he's at the three-week mark now. Heard he might be having another X-Ray in the next few days.

Anthony Swarzak is getting another chance after making 12 starts for the Twins in 2009 (going 3-7, 6.25) but not getting a call last season. He'll start Game 2 tomorrow. My guess is that he will be sent to Rochester when Kevin Slowey is ready to come off the DL, which should be sometime this weekend.

Then again, who knows? The way things have been going with this club, they might need Swarzak to stick around.

Poor Eric Hacker. He was on the verge of getting his first major league start on Thursday but Frankie's poor start forced the Twins to use Hacker tonight. Now he's headed to Rochester. Talk about a turn of events.
