Happy Labor Day from Target Field, where the Twins and White Sox will play a day-night doubleheader today, with Game 2 serving as the make-up from the June 14 rainout.

Both of these teams are playing for pride now. The White Sox sit 8.5 games behind the Tigers after suffering a crushing ninth-inning loss Saturday night in Detroit and getting pounded 18-2 last night.

As Ozzie Guillen said, "I don't want to hear any complaints either when we go to play two games in Minnesota. Get another job. If you think this is tough, try to do somebody else's job."

I should have a slew of injury updates (Justin Morneau, Denard Span, Glen Perkins, etc.) after Gardy's pregame session.

Update: Morneau is working out this morning, swinging in the cage, etc. Gardy re-iterated that the Twins would have him DH the rest of the season to keep him from diving around.

Span seemed to be in great spirits this morning. He's hoping to play as many games as possible before season's end but isn't sure when he'll be ready to get back in there. He'll be meeting with the trainers today.

Perkins is playing catch today, testing his injury forearm, but is unavailable to pitch today.

Francisco Liriano (left posterior strain) will play catch today, but there's still a chance he'll be shut down for the season.

Gardy said he planned to use Tsuyoshi Nishioka in one of the two games today and plans to make that Game 2 to give him more time to loosen up rib-cage area.

Tonight: Game 2, which starts at 7:10, features Twins LH Scott Diamond vs. White Sox RH Zach Stewart.
