Eddie Rosario enters the series hot after driving in three runs Sunday, his most RBI in a game this season. Twins manager Paul Molitor has been trying to play the hot hand between Rosario and Oswaldo Arcia and could give Rosario a couple of starts in Detroit. … The Twins and the Reds are the only two pitching staffs without a shutout this season. … The Twins were swept by the Tigers in a three-game series April 29-May 1 at Target Field. .… Joe Mauer is batting .353 against Verlander with three home runs and a .450 on-base percentage. … The Twins are 7-2 against the Indians and Angels, 3-24 against everyone else.

TIGERS UPDATE

The seat is getting hot under Tigers manager Brad Ausmus, although his Tigers have a record the Twins wouldn't mind having right now. Detroit rallied to beat Baltimore 6-5 on Sunday and end a four-game losing streak. … The Twins must have softened up Zimmermann. Since Zimmermann led the Tigers to a 4-1 win over the Twins on April 30, he has lost his past two starts. But he's been impressively consistent. In seven starts, he has pitched at least six innings and has thrown at least 100 pitches but no more than 108. … The matchup between Hughes and Miguel Cabrera has been one-sided. Cabrera homered off Hughes on April 29 and is batting .439 with six home runs against him.
