Let it rain

"Twenty minutes to Hoffman" will be part of your countdown to "Rain Man" (7 p.m., TVGN), Dustin Hoffman's Oscar-winning turn in 1988 as an autistic savant who is kidnapped by his brother (Tom Cruise) to get access to their late, estranged father's multimillion-dollar estate. Minnesota note: After winning the Oscar for original screenplay, Barry Morrow, originally from Austin, Minn., submitted his script to St. Olaf College because he left there in 1970 one credit short of his degree — and he finally received his diploma.

Real bridesmaids

In the Season 4 premiere of "Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids" (8 p.m., TLC), one bride wants a man to stand up at her wedding and her BFF gets upset. Another bride considers revamping her wedding simply to comfort a friend. I thought this kind of drama was the province of "Real Housewives."

Home is where ...

How do they find the oddball places on "Extreme Homes" (8 p.m., HGTV)? Tonight's edition takes us to an Australian abode that repels bugs (the Off! house?), a New York estate that has its own pyramid (was it built by Dick Clark?) and a Spanish home that dangles from a cliff (the Bat Cave?).
